Alterra is committed to responsible business practices. Through its grievance mechanism, Alterra provides a formal process for internal and external stakeholders – including Alterra employees, investee company workers, and members of the communities in which we operate – to raise concerns or lodge complaints.

Alterra’s grievance mechanism serves as a fund-level escalation channel, including for concerns relating to Alterra’s investee companies. It is intended to complement, and does not replace, investee-level grievance mechanisms, which remain the primary channel for operational and workplace concerns at the investee company level.

Stakeholders wishing to register a grievance may do so through the online submission form below, which allows for anonymous reporting, or by contacting Alterra directly at concerns@alterracapital.com. Alterra will respect confidentiality to the extent possible, including through the option for a complainant to remain anonymous. Alterra prohibits any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.

All grievances are reviewed in a transparent and fair manner, overseen by Alterra’s ESG and Impact function. After a grievance is submitted, and where contact information is made available, Alterra will typically provide an acknowledgement of receipt within five business days. Alterra will then conduct an initial review to determine next steps, which may include requesting additional information, engaging relevant internal or external stakeholders, and/or referring the matter to the appropriate investee-level mechanism where applicable. Alterra aims to provide a substantive response or update within 30 business days of completing the initial review, recognizing that resolution timelines may vary depending on the nature and complexity of the concern.

Where a complainant believes their grievance has not been adequately addressed, they may request internal escalation or pursue resolution through an appropriate external dispute resolution mechanism.
